Fire Safety and Fire Marshal

 The aim of this course is to provide delegates with a basic understanding of fire safety and preventing fire in a dental practice. It includes the role of the Fire Marshal specific to the dental setting and practical training in the use of portable fire fighting equipment.


Learning objectives


On completion delegates will be able to:


  • Recognise current legislation and legal responsibilities surrounding fire safety in the workplace

  • Recognise and implement suitable fire precautions.

  • Identify causes of fire within the dental practice.

  • Describe actions to take on discovery of a fire .

  • Identify classes of fire and types of extinguishers.

  • Demonstrate the safe use of portable fire fighting equipment.

  • Define your role and duties as a Fire Marshal.

  • Describe the checks that should be recorded in the fire log book.

  • Carry out a fire evacuation drill.
