Fire Risk Assessment
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 places a duty on employers to assess and manage risks to their employees and others arising from work activities. This includes the risk of injury or harm as a result of fire.
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 places a duty on employers to carry out a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks of fire and put in place fire precautions where necessary and so far as is reasonably practicable.
Where they employ more than 5 employees the significant findings should be recorded.
Employers must make information available to employees on the risks identified and precautions taken.
The Fire risk assessment considers the hazards associated with sources of ignition, dangerous substances, sources of fuel, safe evacuation and provision and validation of equipment.
Significant hazards are recorded with suggested control measures to minimise or eliminate the risk of harm.
The risk assessment will take approximately 2 hours depending on the size of the premises.
