Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Level 1 & 2
The aim of this course is to provide the dental team with an understanding of how to recognise signs of neglect, abuse and harm in children and vulnerable adults and the procedures that should be in place to ensure the safeguarding of patients.
Learning objectives
On completion delegates will be able to:
- Identify current legislation and guidance surrounding the safeguarding of children and adults at risk of neglect, abuse or harm.·
- Describe the key aims and principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Establish the role of local safeguarding boards and partners
- Outline the importance of multi-agency information sharing in the safeguarding of children and adults at risk
- Identify factors that may increase the likelihood of neglect, abuse or harm occurring
- Describe the different types of abuse and recognise possible signs and indicators of neglect, abuse or harm
- Respond to a safeguarding concern
- Outline the responsibilities of the dental team in referring safeguarding concerns and information sharing
- Recognise the importance of recording accurate records throughout the process
